In deze cursus staat de digitale interface als membraan tussen mens en machine centraal. Een interface is een middel om informatie toegankelijk te maken. Het is een instrument voor de interactie tussen mensen en computers, maar ook tussen mensen onderling (via computers).

On Monday March 7th the EU Commission accepted the directive on copyrights and software patents against the will of the EU Parliament. The M$ lobby won. Software patents are about to be legalized in the EU; Europe won't make a difference any more. It will harm our cultural freedom, it will stiffle innovation and slow down economic growth. The future won't be open.
Unfortunately the EU Commission is obviously neither representing the people nor Europe.

Cultuurconstituerende aspecten van computertechnologie
Computertechnologie en software hebben een specifieke impact op de culturele praktijk, maar tegelijk wordt de technologie door het gebruik en het discours over technologie veranderd en gevormd. Mediatechnologie is dus ook sociaal, i.e. maatschappelijk, discursief, geconstrueerd. In het BA eindwerkstukgroep schrijft de student binnen een blok een BA thesis over een onderwerp die de aspect van cultuurconstitutie van nieuwe media bediscussieerd. De begeleiding vind in bijeenkomsten en indivuduele afspraken plaats.
